Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is effective at alleviating fatigue, reducing muscle soreness, lessening edema, and relaxing the expectant mother. Hormonal and physical changes can make this time challenging, so I focus on providing a session customized to your goals, whether they range from relieving musculoskeletal pain to understanding how to nurture yourself. I work a little differently with expectant mothers in positioning, use of essential oils, and techniques in this modality.

I position women on their backs and side lying propped with plenty of pillows. Warm, organic coconut oil and organic lotion are used as topicals. Relaxing, instrumental music is played as I use techniques from Swedish massage to address the spine, arms, shoulders, and more. I check in regularly regarding pressure and spend more time on areas that are particularly sore. Often it is the middle back, low back, and hips that feel tight.

I also spend a lot of time on the feet, ankles and calves in this session. Peppermint oil/lotion combination is used. Overall, once the first trimester has passed, Pregnancy Massage can be a supportive and nurturing tool in helping you experience your pregnancy feeling optimal.

Amanda’s skills in using the Hendrickson Method® techniques have provided noticeable results in dealing with old injuries and the challenges of everyday life. I began working with Amanda a few years ago and have been impressed with the new skills and abilities that have come with her Hendrickson Method® experience. The techniques and results go beyond those of typical massage and have been able to affect areas more deeply than I have experienced in traditional massage.
